SF Xtra Sound Attenuator (Acoustic) Vent

Surface mounted noise reducing acoustic trickle vent

The Titon SF Xtra is a surface-mounted acoustic trickle vent designed for a 13mm slot size. It delivers up to 44 dB sound attenuation when open and features 750Pa water resistance.

The SF Xtra Sound Attenuator vent can be purchased in a number of combinations based on different sizes of inner (ventilator) and outer (canopy). Combinations can be chosen depending on the sound attenuation requirement and can achieve up to Dn,e,w (C;Ctr) = 44 (-2;-3)dB when the vent is open.

The SF Xtra Sound Attenuator comes fitted with a Titon SF Xtra Ventilator and/or SF Canopy (HF Canopy for 5000EA version) and fits the 2500mm2 EA version over the Trimvent Select, Trimvent 4000 Hi Lift or Select Xtra slot size.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an acoustic trickle vent?

An acoustic trickle vent is a high-performance ventilation solution that allows fresh air into your property while helping to reduce outside noise. It's ideal for homes and commercial buildings in busy or high-noise locations.

Why choose an acoustic trickle vent instead of a standard vent?

Unlike standard trickle vents, acoustic models are specifically engineered to minimise noise transfer while maintaining effective background ventilation. They offer improved indoor comfort without compromising airflow.

Are acoustic trickle vents compliant with UK Building Regulations?

Yes. When correctly specified, acoustic trickle vents can help meet the background ventilation requirements of Approved Document F while also supporting projects with noise reduction requirements.

Where are acoustic trickle vents most commonly installed?

They are frequently fitted in properties close to busy roads, railways, airports and commercial areas where reducing external noise is a priority alongside maintaining healthy indoor air quality.

Do acoustic trickle vents affect ventilation performance?

No. Acoustic trickle vents are designed to deliver the required airflow while providing enhanced sound insulation, helping you achieve both ventilation and acoustic performance.

How effective are acoustic trickle vents at reducing noise?

Performance varies by product, but premium acoustic trickle vents can significantly reduce external noise while maintaining continuous background ventilation, making them an excellent choice for noise-sensitive environments.

Can acoustic trickle vents be fitted to existing windows?

Yes. Many acoustic trickle vents are suitable for both new installations and retrofit projects, making them a cost-effective upgrade when replacing existing window vents.

Will acoustic trickle vents help prevent condensation?

Yes. By providing consistent background ventilation, acoustic trickle vents help control moisture levels, reducing the risk of condensation, damp and mould while improving indoor comfort.

Are acoustic trickle vents suitable for residential and commercial buildings?

Absolutely. They are widely specified for homes, apartments, schools, offices and other commercial buildings where ventilation compliance and noise reduction are equally important.

How do I choose the right acoustic trickle vent?

The right acoustic trickle vent depends on your required airflow, acoustic performance and window system. Our team can help you select a compliant solution that balances ventilation, noise reduction and ease of installation.
